  10. Take 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds
  11. Make ready as needed Few Peppercorns
  12. Get 2 Cardamoms
  13. Take 1 inch Cinnamon Stick
  14. Take 2 Cloves
  15. Make ready pinch Asafoetida
  16. Make ready 1 Veg Soup Cube
  17. Take 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  18. Take 1/2 tsp Pepper Powder
  19. Take 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
  20. Get 1 tsp Garam Masala
  21. Prepare to taste Salt
  22. Take as needed Ghee/Oil (For Cooking-As required)
  23. Get 3 cups Hot Water
Steps to make Red Lentils Khichdi:
  1. Heat ghee/oil in a small kadai. Add cumin seeds, cardamoms, cinnamon, cloves, peppercorns and asafoetida.
  2. Add green chillies and curry leaves and saute for few seconds. Add onions and saute till they are translucent.
  3. Add ginger paste and garlic paste and saute till the raw smell leaves.
  4. Add tomatoes and salt and cook till they become soft and mushy.
  5. Add turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin powder and garam masala and saute for sometime.
  6. Add this in a rice steamer with rice, red lentils and water and let it cook till done. ie. For about 12 to 15 minutes. Serve hot with Pickle, Salad, Raita etc.
