  5. Divide the dough into 3 pieces with a knife or bench scraper.
  6. Arrange the dough in a greased tin with the cut ends facing up.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap (I used a shower cap I bought at a dollar shop). Leave to proof at about 95°F/35°C for about 40 minutes until the dough swells to 2 cm below the edge of the tin.
  8. Bake first at 390°F/200°C for 5 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 340°F/170°C. Bake for another 20 minutes (it burns easily, so cover with aluminum foil if necessary). After baking remove from the oven and drop the bread from a height of 30 cm to remove excess air.
  9. This is the bread I made this time. It doesn't look great, unfortunately…I might make it into a braided shape before baking next time.

Turn to Food to Elevate Your Mood

In general, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and must be avoided. However, if your comfort food is candy or junk food this holds true. Other times, however, comfort foods can be altogether nutritious and it’s good for you to eat them. A number of foods really do elevate your mood when you eat them. When you feel a little down and are in need of an emotional boost, test out a few of these.

Eggs, believe it or not, can be really great at beating back depression. Just be sure that you don’t toss out the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the most crucial part of the egg iwhen it comes to helping you cheer up. Eggs, the egg yolks in particular, are rich in B vitamins. B vitamins can really help you improve your mood. This is because they help in improving the function of your neural transmitters, the parts of your brain that affect your mood. Eat an egg and cheer up!

Put together some trail mix of nuts or seeds. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all wonderful for raising your mood. This is because seeds and nuts have plenty of magnesium which increases your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that dictates to your brain how you feel at all times. The more you have of it, the better you will feel. Not just that, nuts, particularly, are a great protein food source.

If you would like to fight depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Herring, trout, tuna, wild salmon, and mackerel are all rich in omega-3s and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that actually help the grey matter in your brain work a lot better. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly raise your mood.

It’s not difficult to overcome your bad mood when you are eating grains. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are terrific at helping you feel better. They can help you feel full for longer too, which can help your mood too. It’s not difficult to feel low when you feel hungry! These grains can help your mood elevate because it’s easy for your body to digest them. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, improves your mood.

Green tea is wonderful for moods. You were just waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is loaded with a certain amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies show that this particular amino acid can essentially induce brain waves. This will better your brain’s focus while at the same calming the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you be better. Now you know that green tea can elevate your mood too!

Now you know that junk food isn’t necessarily what you have to eat when you are wanting to help your moods get better. Try several of these instead!
